She's fascinated by tales that explore what happens when important things unravel: families, places, memories.
Kate didn't always know she loved telling made up stories though. For a while, she taught high school students. They were cool, but all the grading wasn't. Trying to pin numbers on each kid made Kate realize how much better words are at capturing a tiny bit of who we are.
Kate now lives and works in Atlanta, writing stories that are mostly lies but also mostly true.
